CANADA STOCKS-TSX falls 1 pct on oil, economic woes

TORONTO, Feb 17 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index fell more than 1 percent in early trade on Tuesday as energy issues slumped on a drop in the price of oil, and as reports fanned concerns about a deepening global recession.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE fell 92.98 points, or 1.07 percent, at 8,585.12, within minutes of the open. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; Editing by Jeffrey Hodgson)
