TORONTO Feb 19 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index managed to eke out a small gain on Thursday afternoon, as strength in energy issues driven by higher oil prices offset weakness in gold miners as the price of bullion sagged.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed up 7.61 points, or 0.09 percent, at 8,183.56. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; Editing by Jeffrey Hodgson)
