TORONTO, March 6 (Reuters) - Toronto's key stock index was down more than 1 percent at mid-afternoon on Friday as weighty financial shares fell on persistent fears about the fate of the global banking system.
At 2:18 p.m. (1918 GMT), the S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 77.77 points, or 1.02 percent, at 7,551.40. Earlier, it had rallied as high as 1.8 percent. (Reporting by Frank Pingue; Editing by Peter Galloway)
