CANADA STOCKS-TSX rallies, helped by oil, banks

TORONTO, March 12 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index rallied on Thursday afternoon as energy shares climbed in tandem with oil prices and financials extended gains for a third session on hopes that the global banking crisis is easing.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 159.92 points, or 2.0 percent, at 8,170.94. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; Editing by Peter Galloway)
