CANADA STOCKS-TSX rallies to 3-week high late in session
TORONTO, March 12 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index was up 3 percent late Thursday afternoon as a surge in oil prices gave a boost to energy shares, while bank issues extended their recent rally on hopes the global financial crisis is easing.
At 3:23 p.m. (1923 GMT), the S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 250.71 points, or 3.13 percent, at 8,261.73, which marked its highest level in three weeks. (Reporting by Frank Pingue; editing by Rob Wilson)
