CANADA STOCKS-TSX opens slightly higher but oil weighs

TORONTO, March 25 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index opened slightly higher on Wednesday on strength in financials and materials issues but falling oil prices threatened to pressure the resource-laden index lower.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 24.77 points, or 0.28 percent, at 8,874.16 at the open. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; Editing by Peter Galloway)
