CANADA STOCKS-Banks, oil push TSX to higher open
TORONTO, April 9 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index opened higher on Thursday as weighty bank issues rallied on some upbeat news out of the U.S. banking sector, while higher oil prices buoyed energy shares.
The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 135.23 points, or 1.51 percent, at 9,104.51 at the open. Eight of the TSX's 10 sectors were higher, led by a 5 percent surge in the financial sector. (Reporting by Frank Pingue; editing by Peter Galloway)
