TORONTO, April 13 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index finished up nearly 1 percent on Monday with bank and insurance shares buoyed by optimism that quarterly U.S. bank results later this week will show the sector has stabilized after suffering the worst of the global financial crisis.
The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed up 84.05 points, or 0.91 percent, at 9,271.17. Seven of the index's 10 main groups were higher. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; editing by Peter Galloway)
