TORONTO, April 15 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index was down 1 percent at midmorning on Wednesday as comments from OPEC about a faster-than-expected drop in world oil demand rattled energy shares.
At 10:53 a.m. (1453 GMT), the S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was down 93.38 points, or 1.01 percent, at 9,138.24.
Eight of the 10 TSX sectors were lower, led by a 2 percent drop in energy and a 1.78 percent drop in the information technology sector. (Reporting by Frank Pingue; editing by Peter Galloway)
