TORONTO, April 16 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index finished nearly 1 percent higher on Thursday in a broad-based rally led by strength in the financial and energy groups.
The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE rose 89.98 points, or 0.97 percent, to 9,336.09.
Nine of the TSX's 10 main sectors were higher, with the exception of the materials group, which fell 3.2 percent as weak bullion prices hit shares of gold miners. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; editing by Rob Wilson)
