TORONTO, April 24 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index opened higher on Friday as a rise in oil prices helped light a fire under the energy sector, putting the index in position for its seventh straight week of gains.
The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE rose 73.14 points, or 0.78 percent, to 9,482.64 at the open. Six of the index's 10 sectors were higher, led by the energy sector's 1.7 percent advance. (Reporting by Frank Pingue; editing by Peter Galloway)
