CANADA STOCKS-Toronto index gains on oil, Fed remarks
TORONTO, April 29 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index rose on Wednesday as the U.S. Federal Reserve said the recession appeared to be easing, while higher oil prices and upbeat corporate earnings sparked interest in equities.
The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed up 74.57 points, or 0.8 percent, at 9,422.60. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng' editing by Peter Galloway)
