CANADA STOCKS-TSX closes down as financial sector slides

TORONTO, May 7 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index sank on Thursday after four sessions of gains as weak results from Canada’s big insurers hit financial issues, while crude oil prices pulled back from earlier highs.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed down 171.99 points, or 1.7 percent, to 9,971.44. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; Editing by Jeffrey Hodgson)
