CANADA STOCKS-TSX rises on miners, Addax Petroleum deal
TORONTO, June 24 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index rose at the open on Wednesday as mining shares moved up on higher metals prices and investor sentiment was boosted by news that China's Sinopec Group will buy Addax Petroleum AXC.TO for $7.2 billion.
The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 99.24 points, or 1 percent, at 9,995.16. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; editing by Peter Galloway)
