CANADA STOCKS-TSX follows banks to higher close

TORONTO, June 26 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index followed its heavyweight financial shares to a higher close on Friday, helped by data from the United States that offered further evidence that recession may be losing its grip on the economy.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed up 29.69 points, or 0.29 percent, at 10,385.54. (Reporting by Frank Pingue; editing by Peter Galloway)
