CANADA STOCKS-TSX closes a bit higher as gold glitters
TORONTO, Sept 2 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index eked out a slight gain on Wednesday, supported by rising gold-mining shares as the price of bullion shot to near three-month highs on safe-haven buying due to investor caution about the pace of economic recovery.
The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed up 11.75 points, or 0.11 percent, at 10,701.53. Its materials group, home to gold miners, was up 6.32 percent. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; editing by Peter Galloway)
