TORONTO, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index
raced to its highest level in nearly a year on Tuesday as a
surge in oil prices helped the resource-heavy index to its
fourth straight higher close.
The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially ended
the session with a gain of 82.87 points, or 0.75 percent, at
11,100.34. However, that was well off the session high reached
moments after the open, when the TSX shot ahead 1.4 percent to
its highest level since October 2008.
