CANADA STOCKS-TSX follows energy stocks to higher close
TORONTO, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index raced to its highest level in nearly a year on Tuesday as a surge in oil prices helped the resource-heavy index to its fourth straight higher close.
The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially ended the session with a gain of 82.87 points, or 0.75 percent, at 11,100.34. However, that was well off the session high reached moments after the open, when the TSX shot ahead 1.4 percent to its highest level since October 2008.
