TORONTO, Sept 15 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index extended gains on Tuesday, closing up more than 1 percent on a rally in the mining, energy and financial sectors.
The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 157.40 points, or 1.39 percent, at 11,489.44, reaching its highest close in about 11 months.
Six of the index’s 10 main groups advanced, led by a 2.44 percent gain in materials and a 2.03 percent climb in oil and gas. The influential financials group was up 1.14 percent.
