TORONTO, Sept 18 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index was little changed in early trade on Friday as strength in financial-services shares offset a fall in gold miners, which retreated as gold backed away from 18-month highs.

The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE inched up 5.71 points, or 0.05 percent, to 11,533.94, after opening about 5 points lower. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; editing by Peter Galloway)
