CANADA STOCKS-TSX follows gold miners to higher open
TORONTO, Oct 29 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index shot higher at the open on Thursday, after a string of lower closes, as a rise in commodity prices helped boost shares of Barrick Gold (ABX.TO: Quote) and its gold-mining peers.
The S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE rose 115.87 points, or 1.07 percent, to 10,921.20 at the open. (Reporting by Frank Pingue; editing by Peter Galloway)
