CANADA STOCKS-TSX follows energy shares higher at open

TORONTO, Nov 17 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index was higher after a mildly lower start to the session on Tuesday as an early rally in some energy players like Suncor Energy (SU.TO) more than offset a drag in gold-mining shares.
At 9:40 a.m. (1440 GMT), the S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 22.40 points, or 0.19 percent, at 11,534.66. Earlier it had fallen as much as 9 points. (Reporting by Frank Pingue; Editing by Jeffrey Hodgson)
