TORONTO, Jan 4 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock market ended higher on Monday, backed by soaring oil and gold prices and global manufacturing data that suggested more improvement in the world economy.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed up 118.60 points, or 1.01 percent, at 11,864.71. Seven of the index's 10 main groups were higher, led by gains of more than 2 percent in each of the energy and materials groups. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; Editing by Jeffrey Hodgson)
