CANADA STOCKS-TSX opens higher on surging copper prices
TORONTO, March 1 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index opened higher on Monday as mining shares gained on surging copper prices after a massive earthquake in top producer Chile shut up to a fifth of that country's output.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE opened up 49.68 points, or 0.43 percent, at 11,679.31. (Reporting by Claire Sibonney; editing by Peter Galloway)
