CANADA STOCKS-Resource gains give modest boost to TSX

TORONTO, March 3 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock market index closed slightly higher on Wednesday after a brief bout in negative territory late in the session as firm commodity prices outweighed weak financials.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially ended 23.55 points, or 0.2 percent, higher at 11,851.86. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; editing by Peter Galloway)
