CANADA STOCKS-TSX soft at the open on weak mining shares
TORONTO May 17 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index posted mild losses on Monday, led lower by weakness in mining shares, but firmness in energy issues helped cushion the fall.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE fell 23.20 points, or 0.19 percent, to 11,991.77 at the open. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; Editing by Jeffrey Hodgson)
