TORONTO, May 19 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index fell 1 percent on Wednesday, dragged down by soft gold shares and investor jitters over Germany's ban on some risky bets aimed at limiting speculative trading.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE tumbled 117.60 points to 11,646.91. It was briefly higher after a negative start, but gold issues were the main drag, with the materials group down more than 3 percent. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; editing by Rob Wilson)
