CANADA STOCKS-TSX jumps on bank results, commodity gains

TORONTO, May 26 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index jumped more than 1 percent at the open on Wednesday, spurred by strength in its financial group after Bank of Montreal (BMO.TO) said its quarterly profit doubled.

Commodity-related issues also pushed higher as oil and other key resource prices rose.

The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 179.61 points, or 1.56 percent, at 11,697.69 at the market open. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; editing by Peter Galloway)
