CANADA STOCKS-TSX ends lower on soft data, Spain downgrade

TORONTO, May 28 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index closed lower on Friday after weak U.S. economic data and a downgrade of Spain's credit rating undermined confidence and investors sold off riskier assets ahead of a long weekend in the United States.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed down 73.56 points, or 0.63 percent, at 11,675.56. (Reporting by Claire Sibonney; editing by Peter Galloway)
