CANADA STOCKS-TSX little changed, materials limit gains

TORONTO, July 2 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock market index was little changed in early trade on Friday as the market gave a mixed reaction to report that showed U.S. employment fell in June, the first monthly drop this year.

The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE fell 0.5 percent shortly after the open, but then edged into positive territory, rising 2.52 points to 11,296.94.

Eight of the index’s 10 sectors were higher, but the big materials group was down 2 percent. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; editing by Peter Galloway)
