CANADA STOCKS-TSX opens higher on commodities, earnings

TORONTO, July 29 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index opened higher on Thursday on firmer commodity prices and a slew of robust quarterly results from gold and energy producers.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE opened 8.86 points, or 0.08 percent, higher at 11,705.49 before extending gains.. (Reporting by Claire Sibonney; editing by Peter Galloway)
