CANADA STOCKS-TSX plays catch-up after Monday's U.S. rally

TORONTO, Aug 3 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index rose on Tuesday as oil prices climbed on a weaker U.S. dollar and investors played catch-up with prices on other stock markets after a holiday Monday in Canada.

The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed up 74.97 points, or 0.64 percent, at 11,788.40. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; editing by Peter Galloway)
