CANADA STOCKS-TSX opens up on M&A cheer, rising oil price
TORONTO Aug 23 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index edged higher at the open on Monday, tracking world equities, on a firmer oil price and as sentiment was lifted by the potential for several big corporate deals.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE opened 0.14 of a point higher at 11,722.21, before rising further. Eight of the index's 10 main groups were up, led by the energy group. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; editing by Peter Galloway)
