CANADA STOCKS-TSX closes higher on consumer, tech issues

 TORONTO, Oct 26 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index
edged higher on Tuesday, driven by strong consumer staple and
tech shares, but gains were muted as investors waited for more
signs of earnings growth.
 The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index
.GSPTSE unofficially closed up 21.10 points, or 0.17 percent,
at 12,684.68.
