CANADA STOCKS-TSX opens sharply higher on earnings optimism
TORONTO Jan 11 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index opened sharply higher on Tuesday as commodity prices rallied and investor optimism was boosted by a strong start to U.S. fourth-quarter earnings season with results from Alcoa Inc (AA.N: Quote) beating consensus estimates.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE opened up 88.11 points, or 0.67 percent, at 13,333.23. (Reporting by Claire Sibonney; editing by Peter Galloway)
