CANADA STOCKS-TSX rises 1 pct on commodities, U.S. earnings

TORONTO, Jan 11 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index extended its sharp rise on Tuesday morning as commodity prices rallied and investor optimism was boosted by a strong start to U.S. fourth-quarter earnings season.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE rose 132.19 points, or 1 percent, to 13,377.13. (Reporting by Claire Sibonney; editing by Peter Galloway)
