CANADA STOCKS-TSX opens up on Fed boost despite Potash
TORONTO Nov 4 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index shot higher in opening trade on Thursday as commodity prices rallied on the U.S. Federal Reserve's plans for more monetary easing, which overshadowed Canada's decision to block a takeover bid for Potash Corp. (POT.TO: Quote).
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE opened up 4.88 points at 12,676, and then rose more than 1 percent. (Reporting by Claire Sibonney; editing by Peter Galloway)
