CANADA STOCKS-TSX hits highest level since July 2008

TORONTO, Feb 7 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index hit its highest level since July 2008 on Monday morning, backed by higher metal prices, with copper at a record high.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE rose to 13,864.50 points, its highest point since July 2008 as the index's materials group gained more than 1 percent. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; editing by Peter Galloway)
