CANADA STOCKS-TSX opens higher as financials, resources rise

TORONTO, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index opened higher on Wednesday as financial, energy and materials shares all rose, with investors digesting a third straight hike in Canadian interest rates.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE rose 1.01 of a point to 12,101.99 at the open. It briefly turned negative after the open before extending gains. (Reporting by Claire Sibonney; editing by Peter Galloway)
