CANADA STOCKS-TSX ends higher on strong oils, banks

TORONTO Aug 9 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index rose on Monday as strong oil prices pushed up the energy sector, while financials rose on cautious optimism about the economy and anticipation of Canadian bank earnings later this month.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed up 58.61 points, or 0.5 percent, to 11,858.58. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; editing by Rob Wilson)
