TORONTO, Aug 11 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index fell sharply in early trade on Wednesday as commodity prices sank on persisting worries about weaker growth in China and the United States.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE opened 4.42 points, or 0.04 percent, lower at 11,833.87. It then quickly fell 1 percent to 11,720.44. (Reporting by Jennifer Kwan; editing by Peter Galloway)
