CANADA STOCKS-TSX up 1 pct as resources jump on Chinese data
TORONTO, July 13 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock market index climbed more than 1 percent on Wednesday morning as stronger-than-expected Chinese economic growth data fueled world recovery optimism, jump-starting the energy and materials groups.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE rose 136.84 points, or 1.03 percent, to 13,370.91. Nine of the 10 main index sectors were up, led by a 1.66 percent advance in materials and a 0.96 percent rise in oil and gas. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; editing by Peter Galloway)
