CANADA STOCKS-TSX ends higher on record gold, U.S. data

TORONTO, Sept 14 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index closed moderately higher on Tuesday as gold prices leaped to a record high and more robust than expected U.S. retail sales data helped ease fears about a double-dip recession.

The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed up 43.12 points, or 0.35 percent, at 12,192.98. (Reporting by Claire Sibonney; editing by Peter Galloway)
