CANADA STOCKS-Financials, base-metals push TSX higher

TORONTO, Oct 14 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index turned positive shortly after the open on Thursday as strength in financial shares and base-metal miners offset weakness in gold-mining and energy shares.

The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 0.23 of a point at 12,673.54, before extending gains. (Reporting by Claire Sibonney; editing by Peter Galloway)
