TORONTO Oct 15 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index turned negative shortly after the open on Friday as weakness in gold miners and Potash Corp (POT.TO: Quote) undermined the lift the index got from comments by U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE fell 1.09 points to 12, 618.60. (Reporting by Claire Sibonney; editing by Peter Galloway)
