CANADA STOCKS-TSX opens higher on firm resources, banks
TORONTO Jan 18 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index rose at the open on on Tuesday, driven by solid resource sectors and financials, after the Bank of Canada held interest rates steady at 1 percent.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE opened up 0.58 of a points at 13,440.69, before extending gains. (Reporting by Claire Sibonney; editing by Jeffrey Hodgson)
