CANADA STOCKS-TSX opens up sharply on commodities, earnings
TORONTO, April 20 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index opened broadly higher on Wednesday, as commodities rallied and a raft of solid U.S. earnings boosted optimism about the economic recovery.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE shot up 137.92 points, or 1 percent, to 13,874.75, shortly after the open. (Reporting by Claire Sibonney; editing by Jeffrey Hodgson)
