CANADA STOCKS-Weak data, investor jitters pull TSX lower

TORONTO, Sept 23 (Reuters) - Toronto’s main stock index closed lower on Thursday as the market digested a mainly bearish set of U.S. economic data and wary investors decided to lock in some profits made in an unusually strong September.

The Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE unofficially closed down 45.47 points, or 0.37 percent, at 12,101.79. (Reporting by Claire Sibonney; editing by Peter Galloway)
