CANADA STOCKS-TSX heads higher on materials after dip at open
TORONTO Dec 30 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index advanced on Thursday after slipping at the open, as materials offset initial weakness in energy shares.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE dipped 0.02 percent at the open, but headed higher on rising materials shares, which gained 0.5 percent.
At 9:34 a.m., the index was up 7.58 points, or 0.06 percent, at 13,456.75. (Reporting by Ka Yan Ng; Editing by Jeffrey Hodgson)
