Mexico's Alfa jumps after it ditches bid for Pacific Rubiales

MEXICO CITY, July 9 (Reuters) - Shares in Mexican conglomerate Alfa rose sharply on Thursday after it dropped plans with Harbour Energy Ltd to buy Canadian oil and gas company Pacific Rubiales Energy Corp.

Shares in Alfa rose 4.5 percent to 31.45 pesos in opening trades. (Reporting by Miguel Angel Gutierrez)
