CANADA STOCKS-TSX hits six-week high at open as banks, golds drive gains

TORONTO, July 18 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index
opened higher on Thursday, led by gains in financials and a jump
in gold miners, as investors processed comments from U.S.
Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.
    The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index
 was up 50.36 points, or 0.40 percent, at 12,619.13
shortly after the open. The index rose as far as 12,632.34, a
six-week high.
